I haven’t been blogging as much as I normally do. Or, at least I don’t feel like I have. And I haven’t been writing about my workouts here either (although, they are on DailyMile). I also haven’t been commenting as much on your blogs. I’ve been reading them, but just haven’t been able to comment. Here’s why:
Excuse No. 1: My Writing Brain is Fried
I write for a living. Yeah, it’s part-time, and yeah, it’s copy writing,ย but still. Sometimes I get home and Iย am tired of thinking up “what to say.”
Excuse No. 2: Sunshine
I know that sounds weird, but the sun has finally decided to come out in Seattle. And when that happens, we take full advantage. So I’ve been outside with T Junior and the dogs quite a bit in the evenings.
Excuse No. 3: Headaches
I had a really nasty cold about three weeks ago, and I think it’s still not completely out of my system. I’ve had a headache of some sort every day now for about three weeks. It’s draining and I can’t think. Sort of like Excuse No. 1.
Excuse No. 4: No Time
I don’t think my calendar of activities has been this full since I was in high school. Every weekend is booked through August just about. And the weeks are full, too, with doctor appointments, swimming lessons (twice a week for a month!) and lots of other fun stuff. With all this, I am barely keeping up with the household chores. (Okay, so I’m usually only barely keeping up with chores, but that’s because I chose to barely keep up. Now, I don’t have a choice. If I don’t do laundry in this 5-minute stretch of “free” time, we won’t have clean undies. Make sense?)
Excuse No. 5: Boredom
I can only write so much about the elliptical machine. What is there to say? Today, I did 35 minutes on the elliptical. I stared at the TV screen and listened to my running playlist. So, yeah. It was a good workout. What else is there to say? It’s not the adventure that running is, unfortunately.
Excuse No. 6: I’m Reading
Besides trying to stay up-to-date on all of your fun running adventures, I am reading lots of books on the sport. I finished Run Like a Mother and just started Born to Run.ย Plus, I just finished The Ultimate Runner and will write up a review just as soon as I overcome Excuse Nos. 1-6 and 7-10. I’m also reading a non-running book, Mansfield Park, and will have to start my next book club book very soon.
Excuse No. 7: I’m Watching TV
Typically, I can write, read and watch TV all at the same time (and sometimes have the radio on, too). Mr. T does not understand how I can do this. I have some sort of multi-tasking superpower, I guess. But my powers are being suppressed by Excuse Nos. 1 and 3. So, blame it on the east coast Housewives and the people who think they can dance (and they can!).
Excuse No. 8: Mr. T
Excuse No. 4 is limiting our time together during the week. Even though we are typically both on our laptops in the evening, if I’m not writing at least I feel like I am more present. When I write, I tend to tune everything else out (see Excuse No. 7).
Excuse No. 9: I’m Working Out
I am working out,ย I justย haven’t been writing about it. So sue me. At least I’ve been exercising. And I feel like it’s been more than usual. That’s the whole point of this blog anyway, right?
Excuse No. 10: I’m Tired
See Excuse Nos. 1-9.
And I don’t have time to edit posts either, so I apologize now for any typos, bad grammar or poorly constructed sentences…

i feel your pain, i feel like i have nothing to say right now, but feel obliged to blog….i need a break!!!!
I understand! How many times does my family and the limited number of people who read my blog want to hear that my knee hurts and I pushed M in the stroller for *another* 5km run? Don't feel guilty for posting infrequently… I'm lucky if I have enough to say more than once a week ๐ If you didn't post for a couple of weeks, then I might be concerned, but don't beat yourself up if you're only getting to it every couple of days. And, for what it's worth, I like reading your stuff. I think it has something to do with that whole bloggy community thing that my husband just doesn't get… it's nice to know that someone else is plodding along just like me.Have a great weekend supporting all the R'n'R runners!
new “follower” in the house!! :)So no more bloggy breaks ok?! ๐
You are NOT a bad blogger, you are a blogger with a life, that makes you interesting. I feel your pain though there was a week I was doing the same and I felt guilty. Someone pointed out if it's not fun don't do it, so I stopped feeling guilty.I also feel like my blog has been BORING lately so I know that feeling as well. Hang in there take any break you need, enjoy the SUN!!!! We'll still be here when Autumn rolls around ๐
My excuse for being a bad blogger: the World Cup.We go through our cycles. I'm nearing 900 posts so I can tell you that with certainty. There are some weeks where I feel like I have enough material to blog twice a day, and there are other weeks where it feels like two blog posts a week are too much. One thing that helps me is to have like features, for instance my Friday post is usually like a hodgepodge of stuff, and my Motivational Monday posts too so that way it kind of helps streamline things a bit.Anyway, I enjoy your blog and posts so you get a reprieve from me… this time… ๐
Thanks guys. It would probably help if I was not so long-winded. ๐
Kerrie! Obviously, I have been a bad blogger too! I'd like to borrow your reasons and add a few of my own… but lets just say life has been craaaazy! ๐ Thanks for dropping me a note the other day. I appreciated it!
Um, so if you see a dark car trailing you just stop, it will be a man in a nice suit serving you…i'm going to sue you for not keeping up with your blogging responsibilities. I mean come on, your public here are waiting! =) Joking aside i feel ya on #10…we understand. I'm so sorry your on th einjured list and it must suck to have a running blog and not be running. i totally stop blogging when i'm not running. We will wait it out!! You wont be down for ever!!!! See you tomorrow!
Totally hear you! It's hard to fit it all in. Sorry to add more work with the name tags…didn't mean for you to do all of it but you are a CREATIVE rock star and did it. Don't feel bad about not blogging. I read blogs and don't comment…wish it was easier to comment…I just don't have time to do it.Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see you this weekend.
I still like reading your blog – elliptical or run. Nice you are taking advantage of the weather. Do you think this is summer? I'm HOPING. So how are you feeling, anyway? Is the rest paying off?
I love reading your blogs…running or not! I find what you are writing is interesting and witty! Sometimes it is nice to read something I don't need to 'think' about and I can just read. I also think it is good for you to take a break and enjoy time with your family! T Jr. will only be this age once and you need to enjoy every minute!
Some times I feel like I don't have anything to say. I'll go a week with out blogging.
