Today is New Year’s Eve. Technically, it is Day 167 of running, and it is my last post of 2009. I didn’t go running today. I wanted to, but I’m pretty tired from 12+ hours of sitting in the minivan yesterday. I’m not sure how that can make one tired, but it does. And, so I have nothing to report for the last day of 2009, but I have a lot of catching up to do…
DAY 161: CHRISTMAS
I was very excited for Christmas this year. T Junior is at the age where he gets it. He gets ripping off wrapping paper and playing with new toys. He doesn’t know why we do it, but he thinks its fun!
Me and Mr. T and the whole family spoiled him. But man oh man, did I get spoiled, too. Santa totally outfitted me for my 2010 running goals: a Garmin, a running skirt, Moeben sleeves, an awesome cold-weather running hat, new shoes, books, socks, fleece sleeves, gloves, a new fuel belt! Seriously, people! I feel so blessed to have such wonderful support.
DAY 162-163: ITCHING TO RUN
I really wanted to get out there and try out some of my new gear, but we had a lot of stuff to do and it was not possible. We had quite a few people to visit and places to go. So I had to wait for TWO days! Torture! (Not really.)
DAY 164: MY FINAL RUN OF 2009
Finally, we had a day that was not jam-packed and I decided to run while T Junior took a nap. Lucy and Annie were cooped up during most of our visit, so I took Annie with me and Mr. T took Lucy on a walk. I did the same route as the Christmas Eve Run and I had my brand new Garmin 205 to tell me how far and how fast I was going.
Wow! What a difference! I loved knowing my speed, and I ran exactly 3 miles with poor Annie, who I had to practically drag at the end.
My sister also gave me this handy pocket that I can wear on my arm for my phone, which is how I was able to take Annie-the-constant-puller and my phone.
Hopefully, I won’t be checking my wrist as often as I did on this run! I was constantly looking at my Garmin! I’m sure that’s what all the noobs do.
Stats for my final run of 2009:
3 miles – 34:58
Mile 1 – 11:18
Mile 2 – 11:09
Mile 3 – 10:55
DAY 165-166: MORE TRAVELING
On Day 165, we visited Beale Air Force Base and T Junior got to touch an airplane! I was pretty excited, too. Then on Day 166, we headed home. It’s always sad to leave. I hate it anyway, and then my mom cries…
Along the trip north, we stopped to stretch, go potty, eat, etc. Every time we parked, T Junior yelled, “Exercise!”
The picture, above, is from the trip south to my mom’s. The back of the van was even more stuffed going home. Poor Annie and Lucy couldn’t even see us on the way north.
We stopped in the Shasta area, above, for some exercise. T Junior and I ran around. I taught him, “Readddddy…ssssssset…..GO!” We raced in the parking lot at the Liquor Expo. Yes, the Liquor Expo.
We got home just before midnight…
DAY 167: NEW YEAR’S EVE
…which is why I didn’t go running today.

Garmin!!! Congrats!
Lucky lady with all that gear! I used to ALWAYS look at my Garmin … and some days the tenths moved so slowly.Love that you “raced” around the Liquor Expo. Hysterical!
Very cool running gear! Wowzer! And love the 'Exercise!' shout…that's awesome! If we could just get all kids to think that way. Looks beautiful where you guys live. I love seeing the pics..keep 'em coming. 🙂 Happy New Year from Orlando to the Mom vs Marathon Family! Here's to a healthy 2010! If you get a chance, check out the Pay it Forward 500 Mile Club and Giveaway over at the Turtles blog… fun stuff to kick off a new year! (though I suspect you'll be more interested in Tall Mom's 1,000+ mile group, but send your friends) 🙂 Hugs!
Congrats on the Garmin! Please link the arm pouch thingie!!
A Garmin!!! Hurray!!! Sounds like you had a great trip. So cute that T Jr says “Exercise!” 🙂
Wow, you were totally spoiled! I love it. Yes, your family supports you, it's obvious! That's love. Enjoy the new Garmin!!
