Day 290: Not Normally a Rest Day, Plus 5 Random Things

  • Kerrie

Mid-week long runs are important. I guess. I normally do them on Tuesdays, or if Tuesdays don’t work, Thursdays.

Since Tuesday was our anniversary, I skipped my treadmill 9-miler, planning, instead on doing it Thursday. But then I decided to meet Jill on Friday for my weekend long run of 14 miles. I knew my body would not like doing 9 and 14 back-to-back.

So I skipped my long run on Thursday and did nothing. I called it a rest day.

What an exciting post! Let’s talk about something else:

1. I apologize for my absence in blog-land lately. I barely had enough time to post here this week. But I did make it around to read blogs, I just didn’t have time to comment on a lot of them.

2. Good luck to everyone running races this weekend! And happy Mother’s Day to all you mamas out there!

3. Only four weeks till the North Olympic Discovery Marathon. My stomach just went all queasy with nervousness and excitement when I wrote that.

4. I’m excited to read The Ultimate Runner by Tom Green and Amy Hunold-VanGundy, the creators of Runners’ Lounge. I got a review copy. I will be reading and then post my review of it here!

5. Sometimes I just love Facebook and DailyMile. One of my college sorority sisters has been training for a marathon, too. We both sort of noticed (through FB and DM) that we are on a similar schedule. I asked her when her marathon is and it’s also on June 6! She’ll be running her first 26.2 in San Diego while I’m running mine in Port Angeles!

It must have been kind of nice to get that long run done on Friday. Now you can enjoy the weekend without worrying about it!

That's a cool coincidence. Great job on the training and good luck fitting it all in.
