Since it’s a rest day, I don’t have any running news to report. All I did today was write about vampires…actually, I was trying to describe a game about vampires without giving away the fact that there are vampires in it. It was exhausting. It sucked (ba-da-pum!). Okay, it didn’t really suck, I just wanted to get that joke in because I refused to use it in the copy.
Anyway, I’m tired. And I have a book to finish before my book club tomorrow night. Sadly, I don’t think I will complete it — there’s more than 200 pages left. I’m disappointed because my favorite author, Gail Tsukiyama, wrote it. But I’m struggling with the way it’s written (complicated head-hopping between handfuls of people with unfamiliar Japanese names) and the story’s length. I’ve been “reading” it for months.
I just don’t want to think after three straight days of writing, writing, writing. If I’m going to escape in a book tonight, I only want fluff. I want sentences that don’t require me to imagine anything heavy. Plots that have been done and that I can piece together without any brain power. Surely, I have something like that on my bookshelf.
Sorry, Gail. I need to get my rest for the Issaquah Salmon Days 10K on Sunday morning. Otherwise, I’d totally stay up all night finishing your masterpiece.
