Do you read a lot of running magazines? I get Runner’s World, Women’s Running and I signed up for Running Times recently (but haven’t gotten an issue yet).
For those of you that read Runner’s World magazine, did you read the story about Desiree Davila in the latest issue (February)? It is such an inspiring story. A must-read!
She will be running, of course, in the Olympic marathon time trials in Houston on Saturday. According to the USATF site, NBC will be broadcasting two hours of the event. Not live, though.
I’m really excited to watch Desi. Did you watch Boston last year and see her finish? Amazing. I think she’s going to rock it. She’s so determined! Good luck, Desi!
Here’s a quote from the article in Runner’s World:
“Running is just you, the work you put in, and the clock. You can’t cheat yourself. If you don’t put in the miles, you can’t go to the starting line thinking you’re going to pull a miracle out of nowhere. You get out exactly as much as you put in.” -Desiree Davila
Random thought I had: What do you thing elites think about while they’re running? They don’t wear music. What do you think is going on in their head … or do you think they just blank out?

I think they think about form and continuing to move forward fast. The most recent runner’s world that showcases Desi and the other Hanson’s runners in Michigan shows them at a warming spot by a picnic table where I run almost every weekend in the winter. Very cool!
I like to think that they think about all the random things that I think about when I’m running: don’t trip, are my arms swinging straight or crossing my body, am I hunching over, wow its windy, etc 🙂
i feel like a magazine junky when it comes to running 🙂 I havne’t read that story yet, but I must before I head to houston!
Great job on the blog – love the new design!
