There are so many causes to donate to right now. So many people need help. It can feel overwhelming. HERE is a great link with some ways you can help the people of Japan. Also, Living Social is matching $5 donations to the Red Cross for Japan for just two more hours HERE. But, while they need us, there are still others in our own communities that need us, as well. Here are a couple other causes that could use your help:
Help! Only 3% to go!
New running buddy, KR, is tackling her FIRST marathon (the Yakima Canyon Marathon) with Team In Training on April 2nd to support a friend whose father died from cancer in the fall. She’s at 97% of her goal and her deadline is March 21st, so let’s help her do it! Go HERE to be transferred to her fund-raising page. Whatever you can give can help!
Jog for Joubert Syndrome
Laura’s daughter was diagnosed with a rare genetic brain malformation when she was just 11 months old. Only 350 people in the U.S. and 650 across the world are affected by Joubert Syndrome, which causes developmental and speech delays, sensory processing issues, abnormal eye movements, and can cause kidney and liver problems.
“Haley is pretty mild,” says Laura of her 3-year-old, “But she only learned how to walk a couple weeks ago.”
In December 2009, Laura started Jog for Joubert Syndrome (J4JS) from scratch to raise money and awareness for the Joubert Syndrome Foundation. Last year, J4JS raised more than $6,000.
Laura ran in several races throughout the year, taking donations and sponsorships, and held fund-raising events and raffles on her blog, My Reason to Run. Two other teams formed with J4JS, one in Indiana and one in Texas, and they run races locally while raising money, as well
