I do love running fast. Although my fast is different than your fast is different than Desiree Davila’s fast. Speaking of, have you seen this training video of her training for the Olympic marathon trials (which are this Saturday!).

I think it’s safe to say I have a little running crush on Desi. There’s just something about her — I think it’s her determination combined with how “easy” she makes it look, even though I know it can’t be easy.
Watching her fly just above the ground makes me want to run…fast.
Sometimes I wonder about all of us “everyday” athletes and our training. Why do we do it? We aren’t preparing for the Olympic trials, are we? So what’s the point?
I don’t have a concrete answer to this question. But I think it’s because we like to test ourselves.
Saturday is Desi’s test. Some of my running buddies are coming over to watch the time trials (on NBC from 3-5 p.m. ET). I know a lot of the people watching will be cheering for other runners, but I don’t think it’s a secret that I’ll be pulling for Desi.
Run, Desi. Run fast!
MY TRAINING THIS WEEK SO FAR:
- Tuesday, I ran with Mel (Tall Mom on the Run). 4 miles in about 36 minutes. Nice run; felt good.
- Wednesday, I wanted to run during my lunch, but a meeting canceled those plans. I ran on the treadmill to keep my exercise streak alive and to burn off some chocolate pretzels. Just 2.2 miles in about 22 minutes.
- Tonight, I will hit the ‘mill again here in a couple minutes…or as fast as it takes me to hit “publish” and put running clothes on. Mr. T is sitting in here, so that’ll be weird…

Thx for sharing video. That was really interesting! Can you imagine clipping off all those miles so consistently as a 5:04-5:15 pace?!?! OMG!
I know, right?
cool video! She definitely makes fast look easy!
Yeah she is FAST!! Watching her run makes me want to run fast too. Way to go on the streak, I fell off the wagon today 🙁 but I have a baby teething and I wasn’t getting a lot of sleep and just was getting cranky so I decided I would just do my running 4 days a week and cross train on the days I felt up to it.
Uh, yeah. I think taking after a baby qualifies as an extenuating circumstance!
I can’t wait for tomorrow at 12! I so wish I could actually be in Houston.
