I love trying something new, don’t you? The challenge! The unknown! The feeling of conquering something! Sort of like my run yesterday.
Tonight, it was a yoga video from a set called HD Yoga. Now, I could be totally biased because the company I work for produced the set (which isn’t available till next week) — let me just get that right out there in the open. BUT if I didn’t like it, I would’ve just kept my mouth shut, you know? Last week, I tried the basics video. I liked it. It was relaxing. It helped stretch me out. I can see it being good for an “active rest day” (since I’m streaking an all).

Boat pose (not from video) |
The strength video tonight kicked my behind — well, actually it kicked my hamstrings, hips, core, etc. It was really hard and I did the basic poses. All through the hour-long video, I was thinking how I can see how the strength moves and breathing practice could really help my running. Oh, and boat pose? I was shaking something fierce in that boat pose. And let’s not even talk about these twisty crunch thing. I can’t. I know I’m going to be feeling those for the next two days. (Here’s my report on Dailymile.)
Anyway, I’m really loving it. I still have the core and vinyasa discs to try.
This exercise streak is really inspiring me, by the way. It’s only Day 3, but it’s already helping be conscious about getting in some sort of movement each day. Tomorrow, I’m looking forward to a lunch run with Mel.
Are you trying new things this year?

Great job on keeping the streak going!I have done that pose…been awhile…but after I had my daughter (10 years ago), I got back into shape using Denise Austin's videos, and her yoga tape was the one that had this on there. It sucked at first. Made me MAD I couldn't do it! But then I was able to! Keep the video up. You will feel even stronger than you feel now. 🙂
I got to get me some yoga vids!! I have been told so many times to try yoga and it just hasn't been very appealing until recently. Thanks for the review!! I'm also on Day 3 of the streak, walked 3.4 miles which took and hour, ugh. Running tomorrow though, a little speedwork action will be going down!
I've always wanted to get really good at yoga. A few years ago, I bought a beginner DVD. The first thing it told you to do was get your bricks and resistance bands ready. The box never said anything about bricks and bands! I didn't have either one.I have a pilates DVD I like. Come to think of it, I don't know why I stopped using it. The production values are terrible, it looks like it was filmed in someone's basement, but it really kicks your butt into shape. I think I'll go find it…
I have found a new love for Hot Yoga over the month of December. I am already seeing an improvement in my flexibility over just 10 classes.
Good job on keeping up the streak. http://www.dashingdiva.net
Ooo, I gotta try that boat pose! Thanks! I'm hoping to try new things this year like swimming and yoga! I suck badly on cross training so I thought I'd give those a try and hopefully one or both I would love as much as running! We'll see! : D
I like yoga, but I can't force my brain into it… My mind wanders and I start thinking of all the stuff I should be doing around the house…
