Wanted: A Good Mantra

  • Kerrie

I feel like I need a mantra. I was entering data for my RoadID today and at the bottom there’s a space for a mantra. Uh…I got nothin’. And I couldn’t even think of one I wanted to steal.

The only thing I’ve ever had that came close to a mantra was way back in high school when I used to chant, “Rush, rush…rush, rush…rush, rush…” while running my butt off in the 100-degree weather.

And, yes, it’s from the Paula Abdul song.

Here’s the video in case you tried to block it out aren’t old enough to remember this song…and, OMG, did NOT realize Keanu Reeves was in the video (we didn’t have MTV).

As you can see, I need a new much better mantra. Help!

PS: I’m sorta tempted to you “THANK YOU, ROB THOMAS!” from the video below because it makes me laugh.

I only am able to figure out bad mantras like “don't suck,” “everyone is better than me,” “this is harder than expected” or “I shouldn't be doing this but I am.” Actually the last one isn't that bad. Please share if you find any good ones!

LOL, you are too funny!I did the same exact thing when I was filling out all my info for my Road ID months ago, and it took me 1 month to figure out a Road ID mantra that's only 10 characters long.I think I googled “Road ID quotes” and got a lot of ideas from that. I ended up with “LIVE DEEP” which helps remind me to live my life (running, motherhood, art, everything) to the fullest. I also love the quote that it came from – it's from Thoreau, “I went to the woods because I wanted to live…”Good luck finding your mantra! 🙂

I just got a replacement ID for my Road ID and had the same problem! I ended up just putting down my blood type instead of a mantra ;( Lame.

The only thing I can think of is to go back and read some of your past entries and see if anything sticks out to you!You can always put “Victory Lap”

Oooh – the silly mantras from One More Mile are a good idea!I ended up going with “Argue Your Limitations” when I ordered my Road ID. I admit it – I stole it from the list that Road ID offers… and it's from one of the first pages, even! 😉

I'm no help, my Road ID says “This Was Scott's Idea”, since I didn't want one (what an idiot) at the time.

I love the mantras on some of the tshirts at One More Mile, they're funny and cute…but not serious if you're looking for a real motivator! Can't wait to hear what you come up with!

i don't have a mantra on my RoadId. mine says “go Mommy go,” because that is what my 3 year old used to say to me when I would push her in the stroller. Good luck!
