You Have to Read This

  • Kerrie

I just want everyone to read the story below. This young woman is so inspiring. It just made me really appreciate that I can run. By myself. With my dog. With a friend. On a treadmill. On a trail. On the sidewalk In a race. Wherever. Whenever. The only boundary I have is ME.

“Blind Lexington athlete making history with dog”

From the Mansfield News Journal.

Did you read it? Isn’t she awesome? And how about the coaches?

That is great! My father-in-law was diagnosed with Parkinsons early last year and it has slowed him up in various ways. Since I started running this spring, whenever I want to give up I just tell myself “Gary can't do this… you might be tired, but at least you can…” and I keep going. Thanks for the reminder – the battle is with ourselves alone.

This is awesome! At the Kaua'i Marathon there was a blind man who wanted to run the half and they put out a call for a guide to run with him. I said I would but they already found someone. He ran with his “running” stick and had the person by his side for any additional support he may need. Love that she has a dog to do that for her!

How inspiring – not just her but everyone who supported her and let her do what she loves.
