Earlier today, I checked my e-mail and learned that there are coyotes roaming in the area. One was even spotted on our street.
Awesome.
That’s why, this evening, when I took T Junior for our 1.5er on the trail, I ran really fast. Well, it felt fast, but it was actually 22 minutes. I was trying to be speedy in case a coyote was on our tail. Really, I just felt winded and I should’ve taken it easy because I’m doing 4 in the morning.
I mapped out tomorrow’s route through the neighborhood because there’s no way I’m jogging alone on a dirt path through heavy forest along Lake Wilderness with crazy meat-eating wild dogs on the loose. I feel safer on concrete (even if one was spotted in the development).
I have to admit, I’m nervous about tomorrow’s 4 miles. I just have to remember to take it easy. What else do I need to do? Should I take water with me? What kind of warm up should I do? And, warm down?
I feel like a total noob.

Don't think about speed, just keep a steady pace and just try to run the entire time. The goal is to finish the run. 🙂 I know you can do it, and don't let the miles intimidate you. As for coyotes…um, punch them or kick them in the nose if they pose a threat? But, I bet pepper spray would be wonderful. You can do it, Kerrie! Good luck!
