I Am the Bloggy Wrangler

  • Kerrie

So basically every Seattle blogging runner (and even some from out of town) is running some distance at the Seattle Rock N Roll race on Saturday. Except me. It’s okay. I thought I’d be a marathoner already, and just go spectate.

Well, I’m not a marathoner, but I’m still going to spectate for a little while (I have a schedule conflict). I can’t stay for the entire time, so I’m really excited to meet up with everyone before the race. That’s right; before the race that starts at 7 a.m. On a Saturday. A race I’m not running. In fact, I even volunteered be the designated Bloggy Wrangler, a title I made up and gave myself.

I may make a sign. I may have a clipboard. I may wear an official Bloggy Wrangler shirt. If I do, I will post it so you can find us if you are going to be at the race. I’d let you know exactly what I’m going to wear, but I have no idea what the weather is going to be like at this point. It’s been raining for a week straight and in the mid-50s. Hopefully race day will be nicer: 60 and overcast for all the runners would be great.

Ever spectated a marathon/half marathon before? Got tips for me? Poster ideas? I’d love to hear them.

Kerrie, you rock! Hope you have a great time. My tip would be to tie something tall to yourself… helium balloons, orange bicycle flag… something that's easy to see over the crowd. The amazingly tall people are always the easiest to find so if you can simulate that, you'll be easy to congregate around!

Ooh! I'll be there. I'll be pushing SailorBaby in the stroller and carrying a bright pink sign for my friend Steph, TallMom and Amanda (5 miles..) We should meet up and sip starbucks while they run. Is that evil? hehe

I forgot-I also had a big smiley face balloon attached to my chair-so people could see that first!

Runner's can never get too much cowbell. It also saves the hands from clapping.

I have heard from many people who ran marathons and halfs that people with balloons were easier to see. Have fun! LOVE the look of your blog!

If I didn't live in Vancouver (BC) and have a race on Sunday I'd totally have joined you! And if I'd known how many people lived near Seattle I would have entered this half instead… Have tons of fun!

At the last marathon I spectated, I made a sign that said “Chafe now, Brag later”. I got more than a few chuckles from that one!

I spectated at the Orange County Marathon from the back of my bike. Was very cool to hop around from place to place on the course.
