Now, before I can change it again, here is my Nuun Hood to Coast Relay Application for 2012:
Last year, for my application, I wrote about adventure. This year, I knew I needed to step it up and not fall back on what I’m comfortable with. After all, that’s what Hood to Coast was all about for me in 2011 — getting out of my comfort zone. I had a lot of ideas for this application. Some of them were funny in concept, but they just weren’t translating. I did a bunch of Hood to Coast-themed someecards that I may post later anyway because I they make me laugh. And I did a couple other videos. They just didn’t feel quite right.
But one night, when I was washing my face before bed, I noticed I had a Nuun tube sitting next to my sink along with all my face and hair products. I mean, I knew it was there, but at that moment, it just struck me as funny. And then I remembered that I had a bottle of Nuun on my nightstand, and I knew I had another Nuun bottle at the ready in my car. I take one to work with me every day. I have a box in my pantry stuffed with Nuun tubes. I have two Nuun tubes in my purse. Another in my lunch bag. I have Nuun everywhere!
And I thought about how I bring it with me when I go anywhere and that’s when I realized, I just always have to have Nuun around. Addicted much? Me and Nuun: We’re always together. My Nuun bottle’s like part of the family. Seriously. So that’s when I had a couple ideas about Nuun being a part of the family, and then it morphed into me and my Nuun bottle being BFFs, and for some reason, that made me think of Laverne & Shirley*, and the opening of that show. And voila!
T Junior had a lot of fun being in it, but you can see in the “watching a movie” scene that he’s looking at me weird, and you can see that he’s talking to me: “Why you cryin’, Mom?” Of course, I reminded him that we are just pretending. Bennie also looks at me weird in the “tripping” scene, in which (for once) he doesn’t actually trip me, but close enough. Special thanks to Mr. T and Chelsea for being good sports, and filming for me.
And thanks to Nuun for this opportunity. I hope I get to experience it again because this year I want to really step out of my comfort zone and conquer the course!
Did you apply? Go HERE for details and get your application in by Monday!
I’m giving away a new Nuun bottle stuffed with grape and fruit punch Nuun tabs (my two favorite flavors). Here’s what you gotta do to enter:
GO to NUUN’S FACEBOOK PAGE, and POST “Don’t send Nuun to Hood to Coast without Mom vs. Marathon!” (or if you want to write your own demand, that’s cool, too), then COME BACK HERE and COMMENT to let me know you did. That’s it!
The giveaway will end Thursday night at 11:59 p.m. PST. Good luck!
*Later, I realized some people may not, um, remember Laverne & Shirley, and that this means I might be oldish. Watch the TV show opening HERE.
